Skegness Summer 2010!

A couple of weeks ago three cars full of rowdy skateboarders hit the motorway up to the concrete wonderland of Skegness. The majority of us stayed at Adam’s house the night before for convenience, and Smither & I were banished to the outhouse to spend the night. Smither spent a good hour pacing around because he saw a spider and apparently gets chronic fear & insomnia about it. He then braved it onto the sofa, and three hours later at 6 in the fucking morning a very ecstatic looking Adam Keys burst through the door. In all honesty, I was not pleased to see him. Before I even knew what day it was we were in Smither’s deathtrapmobile heading to the nearest petrol station. A double shot latte and an all day breakfast triple was just what the doctor ordered as we pulled onto the A3 to start our 200 mile journey. We were following Adam as he had a sat nav, which is ten times better than a print out of Google Earth and Smither’s sense of direction. After just 20 miles Smither felt his steering go funny and we were flagged down by another driver who had noticed our puncture. Not a problem, we’ll just get the spare out and we’ll be back on the road in no time. We then found out that all we accomplished by getting the spare wheel out was that we had doubled the amount of flat tyres we had. The AA was called, two hours and £100 later we were back on the road, miles behind everyone else who had the luxury of stopping for several McDonalds. The rest of the journey unfolded slowly and painfully, and my hair is now greyer from trying to give directions to Smither. Conveniently we were then held up again on the A1 by an accident which had happened after everyone else had passed it. We finally made it into the surreal ‘holiday’ destination that is Skegness, only to find that our B&B had been given away. Long story short we got our money back, got discounted rates a neighbouring B&B and cheered up as we finally stood on our skateboards. It took us nine and a half hours.

As you can imagine we had a well deserved skate then hit the town. I’m not going to mention what happened in town, but Gold Dust VIP and the DnB remix of that Rihanna/Eminem tune have both been ruined for me, “Rapey” Dave lived up to his reputation, I got chucked out of the same club 3 times and am so glad that I’m never gonna see anyone in Skegness ever again.

Skateboarding happened in-between monsoons, and here is the result. Please excuse some wobbly filming, and just so you know, Dave skates regular, all of his tricks are switch/nollie:

Spring has sprung! Proper nice weather this weekend, hope you were all out enjoying yourselves!
Here
are some photos from Saturday at Emsworth, all taken by Coatman on his lovely digital SLR, and below are some offcuts from the weekend. We did actually film some proper skateboarding as well but that’s being saved for the winter/spring edit, which might happen soon, but no promises.
